We allow one rehearsal and one wedding per weekend. Occasionally, for special circumstance, we will open up a Sunday date, where the Monday after is a Holiday. There is a small up charge for this in order to have our staff work through the night to get the property and barn cleaned and prepped for the next day.
High Bridge Stables requires at least a professional “day of” coordinator. Unfortunately, a friend who has planned a wedding in the past does not meet our strict requirements. We have several professionals from which to choose from.
Day Of Wedding – $4,700
Full use of Upper Barn Including all 4 spaces and the Carriage House, enough tables and chairs to seat 120 guests at the service and for a dinner party. Experienced wedding coordinator to assist with vendors , layout and day of schedule.
Weekend Wedding – $ 5,300
Same as above, adding Friday – Sunday overnight stay at the Carriage House, and option of bridal party decorating the day before, and/or hosting the rehearsal dinner.
Rehearsal Dinner – $ 3,300
Up to 60 people, including use of tables and chairs at the upper barn, riding ring, and pavilion.
Note – Since we are an authentic horse barn hosting a Collegiate riding team we are available exclusively during the peak months of April 15th -June & September- November 15th.
To reserve your desired date, a non-refundable 50% initial payment secures your spot, with the remaining balance due 90 days before your wedding day.
The responsibility of clean up is on the caterer, bar service and rental company, leaving you worry free. We have a staff on site that assists with set-up of tables and chairs prior to the event.
Currently, we are open for events from April through October 31st.
The barn and pavilion are open air, however the barn does have doors to close for colder evenings and 3 commercial grade free-standing heaters. The covered pavilion, connected to the barn, has an oversized stone fireplace for ambiance and chilly evenings.
We are a venue only facility, however we have an outstanding list of preferred professionals that we can recommend to you for all of your needs. Should you decide to choose a caterer from outside our list, please check with us first, in an effort to ensure vendors meet our quality control standards. A licensed , professional caterer is required for both your rehearsal party and your wedding reception. Pot-luck, do it yourself meals or self serve alcohol are prohibited.
High Bridge Stables is set up to accommodate 120 guests. You may choose the barn, pavilion and/or riding ring to entertain your guests. You may personalize your event by utilizing all of these spaces that are available to you.
The Carriage House is included for the bride, the day of her wedding. It is also available to rent for overnight stays. There is a two night minimum. High Bridge Lodge and Cabins is located on the ridge adjacent to the venue. Hotel Weyanoke is 3 miles away, as well as other hotel chains. Sandy River Log Cabins and Tipi, only 6 miles from downtown Farmville. There are also, Airbnb properties close by.
Yes, we have constructed a large outdoor, 40 foot by 40 foot, pavilion that is lit with cast iron lights and open to the beautiful Farmville starlit skies. The standing capacity is over 100 guests and the seated dinner capacity is 120 guests. We also have an outdoor riding ring adjacent to the lighted reception pavilion. It works perfectly if a tent is desired, or a dance floor!
We have 3 areas available for a band to set up. Adjacent to the event barn is the outdoor pavilion. It has all of the necessary electrical needs for your band or DJ. Inside the barn there is also ample space and electrical for bands. We also have more than enough room for bands to set up in the riding ring.
While there are no restrictions on indoor or outdoor music volume, the town of Farmville enforces an ordinance stating that all amplified music will be turned off at 10PM. This is consistent with most venues in the State of Virginia.
No, due to the age of the buildings no fireworks are allowed on the property.
Yes, we have constructed a beautiful chapel handcrafted by Amish artisans. The dimensions are 18’ wide X 8’ deep X 20’ high.

Yes, we have on site parking for 14 cars, including 2 handicapped spaces, marked Lot #2. Unfortunately, the vendors that service your wedding as well as your elderly or handicapped guests will often take up most of these spaces. Lot #1 is at the bottom of the drive with 16 additional spaces for your guests. High Bridge Stables requires shuttle services to and from the venue and the area hotels.
Yes, we allow for our couple’s to bring their dog, not your guests though. Just be sure that someone is assigned to clean up duties so that nobody steps in any surprises! Once the reception has begun, we ask that someone shuttles your fur baby back to your room or Kat’s Kennels LLC located near the venue.
Yes, we provide 120 of the most desirable cross back chairs as well as 20 tables for serving 120 guests. The tables are 6 feet long and seat up to 8 people. We also provide, at no extra charge, 18 hi-top cocktail tables, and 3 large round tables for specialty needs. These will need rental linens. The hi-tops need linens 120 inches round.
Yes, if you are interested in using a catering company not on our preferred vendor list, please let us know in advance. High Bridge Stables recommends certain vendors because along with experience comes excellence. These vendors have proven to be trustworthy, experienced and have met our high standards of excellence and quality.
Yes, you will need to place a fully refundable $1000 damage deposit. This will be provided 90 days before the wedding date and will be returned promptly after the wedding, if not required due to an unforeseen circumstance. You will also need event insurance that can be obtained inexpensively, from your homeowners insurer. Please add High Bridge Stables Venue as an additional insured entity for the dates you will be using the venue.
Yes, we have 2 separate, heated restrooms for your use.
Caterers provide all food and drinks and equipment for tables and bars. There is a dedicated prep area with one stainless steel sink, and cabinets.
Yes, we have a beautiful bridal Carriage House adjacent to the venue. It has 2 private dressing areas, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, and a seating area with comfortable furnishings. A cozy place to sip mimosa’s with your bridal party, mothers, and grandmothers, before the wedding ceremony.
Put a one of a kind stamp on your event by choosing your own licensed vendors, including planners, caterers, photographer, florist, musicians, and entertainment. We are happy to provide lists of local providers. Do it yourself and BYOB liquor is strictly prohibited by law.
Yes. Linens will be required for the tables.
Dishes, linens, flatware, and glasses can be rented by several rental agencies listed on our preferred vendors tab.
Your caterers are responsible for bussing all tables.
In order to lock in your future wedding date, a non refundable date retainer is required. This retainer is 50% of your venue fee. The remaining balance will be due 90 days before your wedding date. Once you are ready to book a date, we will send an agreement and invoice.
The retainer for securing your future event date is fully refundable for a period of 3 days after booking. If you cancel your wedding for any reason after this grace period, all payments are non refundable. (The only exception will be for active military deployment.) We block the date off of our website calendar immediately upon booking, making the date unavailable for other interested couples.
You are free to come pick up items on Sunday, after the wedding, however, we take Sundays off as a family so any extra planned event is not part of our service.
Yes, we do. These are typically held during the week, or on Sunday. There is an $500 per hour charge, with a 5 hour minimum or a 3 hour minimum during the week. Because this is a working horse farm, and wedding venue, these special events must be pre-approved by email and they are limited.
